Art work of Scott C. BrooksFiddle Commission for Karen, AKA "Squirrel Girl". The squirrel is a burnined in relief image with carving going from back to front with MOP and old tourtoise shell purfling. It was originally going to be ebony and MOP, but the esthestics of the squirrel would have been reduced. Here, the slight flame in the maple is visible as well as the squirrel running up and over the side. This carving is based upon a picture my wildlife photographing dad took of some of my mother's rehab animals. the squirrel is sketched completely free hand. The fiddle top, with the squirrel and accorn around the F Hole. The accorn wasn't part of the commission, but I couldn't resist. It was fun carving the top of the one, its always good to realize you got a good piece of pine. Made a new letter opener out of a deer bone I found in the woods and a scrap peice of steel I found on the side of the road. The pommel is a deer tooth. .50 cal Kentucky Pistol handmade and inscribed for Wayne Eaton. The Leather Holster made from scratch. Box Bass Made for Terrence "Elvis" Brown of Jamaica, Currently with The Pocket Band, Painted with the National Colors of Jamaica. (That was his call...) |
